The Art of Visualization and Imagination for Self-Healing

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Dr. Aretoula Fullam

Visualization is the ability to recall and relive something you experienced before, either visually, auditory or kinesthetically. Visualization and guided imagery are two of the most powerful healing powers of your mind. Imagination is creating something with your mind that does not exist or existed before. Imagination is the beginning of the creative process. In creation, all you need to do is to use your imagination for some astonishing results, provided you keep your logical thinking under your control so it will not interfere with what you want to create. Your mind is a faculty of human intelligence, as seeing and hearing are faculties of your eyes and ears. Seeing and hearing are faculties of biological intelligence, your objective self. Your mind and the ability to think is a faculty of human intelligence, which is your subjective self. Harmony and balance between the subjective and the objective self is perfect health.

In the Silva Life System you learn to direct and rule your mind, thus converting a process from “psychosomatic illness” to “psychosomatic health.”

With visualization you are able to heal yourself by learning first to relax completely physically and mentally so no thoughts or bodily functions interfere with your mental work. In the Silva Method Life System training this is very easy as it is repeated many times throughout the two-day training that people become masters of it before the end of the first day. The second step is to visualize the problem, the unwanted situation by creating a mental picture of what it looks like or what it feels like, and keep the picture in your mind’s eye to make a good study of it. This is acknowledging the existing situation, or the psychosomatic problem that we need to correct. This is visualizing the existing situation that you want to get rid of. The next step is to create a strong and clear picture to the left of the picture with the problem, that depicts the outcome you want. You make a good study of the solution you feel the outcome as if you have it now. You imagine that you are already living the successful achievement of your goal. This is converting your problem into a project by turning it into psychosomatic health. You spice it with your belief that what you are living with your imagination is true, and your true reality. From then on, you visualize your imagined solution, every day and with your mind you are living your new reality. Your desire, belief and expectancy of the desired end result, which you already created in your mind, will channel the creative force at the quantum level of energy to guide and direct the creative force to attract the thing you want. This is what Dr. Jose Silva called self-mind control, or self mind discipline.

This process can be used for anything, such as health, gaining material possessions, increasing your income, attracting your soul mate, etc. In this article I will focus on healing. Once you understand the process then you can adjust your visualization and imagination for other things you want using the same guidelines.

For a serious problem use 15 minutes three times a day, preferably in the morning when you wake up, in the evening before you retire, and at noon, after lunch. Close your eyes, take three deep breaths as you learn in the Silva Method and relax physically and mentally as you center yourself. Visit your ideal place of relaxation and feel the relaxation as worries and anxieties melt away. Visualize yourself in complete physical and mental tranquility as you feel pure energy entering the top of your head and slowly moving down through your whole body to your toes.

As you breath in, inhale, feel and visualize the pure healing energy becoming brighter and brighter, circulating in every organ, in every tissue, in every gland, in every cell of your body. As you breach out, exhale all worries, all anxieties, all fear, all illness and dis-ease from your being as smoke or cloud dissolving and disappearing away into the air and in to the universe, having no control over you. Continue to do this for several minutes visualizing the illness turning into smoke and disappearing into the air. Stay focused as you are visualizing the smoke disappearing. Imagine your body glowing from radiant light, energized, vibrating health. Imagine yourself happy and joyful, doing the things you love doing.

Another type of visualization for healing is to imagine within your belief system, something taking the illness away. For example, if it is a tumor, imagine an angel taking it away, or if an angel is not working for you, imagine a bird, or a polar bear eating a donut or something representing the tumor, until the “thing” they eat, is completely eaten and disappeared. Or imagine laser beams burning the tumor until is completely gone. Or imagine chemotherapy as a light that turns the tumor into a liquid that is washed out of your body as urine. Use your imagination, your creativity, your imagery guided by you, at the relaxed level of your mind to rid yourself of what the problem is. Imagine yourself enjoying the end result you created. Imagine yourself completely healed. Feel happiness and joy for being healthy. Imagine yourself dong all the things you love to do as you enjoy being healthy. Visit your ideal place of relaxation and allow yourself to do things with others you value, involve your mental senses and allow them to bring information to you that you enjoy, to hear the sounds of nature, to smell fragrances, to taste, smell and touch what you love. Use all your senses and your mind to enjoy your life to the fullest as you created it with your mind.

From then on, visualize what you created with your imagination and live it every day, every moment without ever revisiting the problem again. It is gone, is past. You visualize the imagined solution as you created it, three times a day, and you live your life as if you already have attracted your desired end result.

The same process can be used to improve relationships, to manifest a better job, to attract business, to improve sales, to perfect the tennis suing or any athletic sport, to improve memory and concentration, to change a behavior, to eliminate bad habits, to help your children with hyperactivity or attention deficit, or anything else you want. The key is to visualize the problem, imagine the solution and visualize the imagined end result. If your imagination in correcting the problem is exaggerated basking in the light and glory or the desired end result with lots of feeling in it, the better, as in your mind you already have what you want. Repeat this every day and do not be concerned how or when it will happen. The stronger your desire, belief and expectancy the faster and easier will be to manifest your dream. Just be certain that your guidance of the energy at the creative level will be channeled to create what you desire to create, belief to have, and expect to happen.

This is the science of Conscious Creation so you can enjoy health, wholeness, balance and the life you want to live to the fullest!

PS. Please note that we do not suggest to rely only on this method for self-healing; continue your treatment under your doctor’s supervision and do this in parallel. Creative visualization speeds up recovery and healing but is not replacing traditional medicine.

A Great Mindhack on Learning New Skills!

Our friends from ThoughtsTransformed.com have managed to snag some incredible footage of Burt Goldman during a recent seminar in California.

We’ve watched the video a few times already, and we at Mindhacks are REALLY blown away at the insight that Burt reveals to his audience.

Burt Goldman, The American Monk, describes a method on how anyone can use meditation techniques to learn a new skill and discover inspiring insights.

Burt used this technique to develop a new style of photography that has been inducted at the International Photography Hall of Fame, in Oklahoma.

He’s somehow has a new relationship with age that allows him to transcend the belief that we can’t learn new skills once we grow older. BURT IS 80 YEARS OLD!

Here’s a sampling of the photographs featured at the International Photography Hall of Fame created from the techniques described in the video:

Law of Attraction: Improve and Accelerate Segment Intending

manifesting.png

In Esther and Jerry Hick’s Book, The Law of Attraction, widely featured in the original version of The Secret, describes a process to improve the manifestation process through ’segmenting’ life in stages and intending the things that you desire at a smaller scale in order to achieve the BIG goals.

Breaking up the big goals into smaller goals make them easier to achieve. Having successfully accomplished a smaller goal also adds to motivates to accomplish other goals as well. Its a great cycle of success!

Here’s a great visualization trick that I use frequently in order to experience and hold on the emotions of HAVING WHAT I WANT, and in turn use to improve and accelerate the process of segment intending.

Step 1: Identify the Segment

First identify the segment of your life that you will be entering.

For example:

It’s Monday morning after a relaxing weekend and a potential client is expecting to meet you for a presentation on an important project. You are riding the elevator up to her office and even though have already rehearsed the presentation, feel a little nervous about the meeting.

Step 2: Enter the Space

Close your eyes and visualize a space which you feel most comfortable in. I usually imagine my dream house, a lovely beach-front cottage on a breezy Sunset. The space that you choose to visualize yourself in must bring you a sense of calm and overwhelming joy to be in.

Experience how it feels to be in this space and prepare yourself to do a little work.

Step 3: What do you want from the Segment

While in your space, ask yourself what you want from this Segment.

For example (based on the above):

I want to give a flawless presentation.
I want a signed contract from a happy, grateful, and optimistic client.

Now that you have identified what you want, we must deliberately intend it to happen…

Step 4: Visualize and Experience what you want

In your space, imagine the events of your desires as reality. For example, the feeling of giving a flawless presentation and how confident and clear it was. Or what it feel like as a client signs on the contract and gives you a warm handshake.

Experience the emotions that you would feel as you visualize this. And as much as possible, experience the emotions right down to the smallest detail.
Experience how these emotions affects you physically as well, once again to the smallest detail. How do your hands feel? Are they warm? How does your stomach feel? Are there butterflies?

How does feel to HAVE what you WANT?

Step 5: ALLOW it and BEGIN THE SEGMENT!

Now, fully experiencing these emotions, consciously submit your request to the Universe; ALLOW your manifestation happen whole-heartedly.

Open your eyes - and begin living the Segment as you WANT and HAVE. And what you visualize will surely come to you as much as your heart desires.

Share with us some of your creative visualizations of your space and your manifestations! We would love to hear about your success stories and your own personalized techniques on how you improve and accelerate your segment intending!

Creativity Exercises - A Great Exercise That Will Dramatically Improve your Creativity

I want to let you in on a great creativity exercise that will get your creative juices flowing to the extreme. The secret I’ve just discovered is a creativity exercise called Image Streaming.

It comes courtesy of Win Wenger, Ph.D, and the effects on intellect and creativity are truly startling. You can see results in a few hours.

I’m sure you’re wondering . . .

Creativity Exercises: What is Image Streaming?

“Image Streaming is a technique that facilitates access to the deep subconscious by accessing the constantly arising stream of visual images that we have.” - source

Creativity Exercises: How to Image-Stream?

What you need is an external focus to describe your images to. A tape recorder with blank tape, or a simple Dictaphone like every office used to have, provides you a potential listener for that all-essential focus. Call in a friend, or phone to call up a friend and keep him or her on the line, and you have, even better, a live listener to serve as that external focus.

Of that half of you who did get an image, some found a strong, clear, definite image or set of images, while others just got a glimpse, a faint impression which you might think was hardly worth describing, or weren’t certain whether you were just making up the idea rather than seeing an image —

— Yet whatever you got, the key is to examine and describe it aloud, in as rich detail as possible even if you feel at first as if you are “forcing” it and “making up” some of it to fill your description to your external focus listener.

More, though, and more, will come as you describe — be alert to this happening, and describe the new impressions when they come. Your images will become rich and vivid and even their meanings — as Image-Stream contents are often symbolic or metaphoric — will start to become apparent.

That is Image-Streaming. Each full-flow Image-Streaming session should run from 10 to 30 minutes. Examine whatever images happen to be playing in your mind’s eye at the time, while describing them in rich detail to a live or potential listener (person or tape recorder).

Even minimum, trivial-seeming impressions or whatever: describe them in such richly textured detail as to force anyone listening to experience and see what you are describing. 10 to 20 minutes at a time, practice several hours of Image-Streaming and you will have mastered the basic skills needed to make other forms of visual thinking work for you. — And you will also have experienced some of the other benefits of Image-Streaming as well, including improved intellectual performance and creativity.

Even if your imagery is already clear and vivid, you will be astonished at how much more so it quickly becomes when you describe it in this way, while continuing to examine it.

Creativity Exercises: 3 Ways this improvement is even stronger!

1)You describe in as sensory-textured detail as possible.

The major part of your brain that we want to bring on line, works with sensory images even in profoundly intellectual matters. Explanation takes you away from that sensory immediacy. Instead of saying, “I’m at the beach” or “This is Virginia Beach,” detail instead the warmth of sand under your toes, the sound of surf, the smell of salt, the wheeling of the gulls above you in the almost-white sky, black and white of the gulls on that paler white far above you ….

2)Describe as rapidly as you can, to get more and more detail in.

Describe faster than you can stop to judge whether or not something is worth mentioning, just go ahead and flow it through (and see what comes with it). This is a kind of “brainstorm” only with description instead of ideas or answers, and has a similar rule to brainstorming’s “if it occurs to you, express it!” Really rapid-flow describing exerts almost a Venturi force or suction pulling other perceptions into focus.

3) All this is done most easily with eyes shut. . .

so that your inner visual circuits aren’t distracted away from these initially subtler signals, and so they can operate at full sensitivity. In other words, please keep eyes closed during such processing, in order to see more freely.

The ESP Affair

Exclusive Teaser Of  ‘The ESP Affair’

‘The ESP Affair’ is an upcoming feature film that is set to make you think so far out of the box that it will blow your mind. The ESP Affair is about Connie, an ordinary woman who’s dreams are invaded, causing her to stumble onto a top-secret government conspiracy involving psychics and mind control.

“Imagine a world where . . .

Government has lost the nation’s trust, Democracy is compromised, Ordinary people suspect everyone and there is no privacy . . .

you can’t trust your neighbor, your family, your lover, you cannot even trust your own dreams”

The ESP Affair

The ESP Affair story is rooted in a TRUE, cold-war era U.S. military project involving trained “psychic spies” known as Remote Viewers. While the evidence suggests that the U.S. government’s Remote Viewing program was eventually disbanded, The ESP Affair supposes that it was merely taken underground, and continued to develop in secrecy.

Led by a corrupt politician with delusions of grandeur, the underground program in the movie is turned inward at America’s own populous. When a dissenting agent within the underground begins to use his powers for his own insidious purposes, he inadvertently awakens psychic abilities within one of his victims (Connie), and unleashes a series of “blowback” events that lead to the his own exposure, along with the subversion of the psychic conspiracy at large.

This film is set to be truly cutting edge - many of the contributors are pioneers in the field of this remarkable phenomenon - namely Major Ed Dames ( retired US Army) and the inspirational psychic and renowned parapsychologist Lloyd Auerbach consulting with the makers.

You can Learn Remote Viewing . . .

When investigating this thought provoking and engulfing practice I stumbled across a great website that has such a comprehensive catalogue of information on Remote Viewing.

Did you know the CIA, the US Army and the British Army have all used Remote Viewing???

Do Schools Kill Our Kids’ Creativity?

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

This is a truly gripping 20 minute speech which seeks to put all the wrong doings of education right by cultivating our children’s creativity rather than killing it.

Sir Ken Robinson, knighted by the Queen in 2003 for achievements in creativity, education and the arts, is an English gentleman with a charming wit and repartee that has an amazing vision to harvest creativity and create an amazing future for the world. He believes that CREATIVITY is as important as LITERACY and should be treated with the same status.

Ken Robinson, who lived in Stratford Upon Avon the home of Shakespeare for many years, begins by demonstrating the amazing creativity of children with numerous funny quips.

He shares a story of a 6 year old little girl who pays no attention in class except when she can draw. The Teacher asks what she is drawing and she claims to be drawing God:

The teacher asks: “BUT nobody knows what God looks like”

The girl replies “They will do in a minute”

This quip literally illustrates how children have no limits to their levels of creativity. Most kids are fearless and are never ever frightened to make mistakes. This leads to out of this world creativity. HOWEVER, our current education systems worldwide are making children lose this capacity to be creative.

You will literally be glued to the screen in this riveting 20 minute video

After you have viewed this clip I invite you to just imagine how much wonderful change we could bring to this world if we truly embraced these teachings!

I’m sure you’ll agree that Ken delivers a highly entertaining, and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures creativity, rather than undermining it.

Picasso once said:

All children are born artists, the problem is remaining an artist as we grow up.

This is the problem that Ken outlines quite brilliantly in his speech. We don’t grow into creativity, We grow out of it. In fact Ken argues we are educated out of creativity.

How to Get Better Results with the Law of Attraction by Using Jose Silva’s Rules of Programming

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Everyone’s talking about the Law of Attraction ever since the movie “The Secret” was released to the world. Even Oprah did two shows on the subject in Feb 2007.

But according to Jose Silva, the famous mind researcher and founder of the Silva Method, there are specific “Rules” that help you get better results.

The Most Important Rule is…What You Seek to Manifest, Will Come Faster if You Seek it to Benefit Humanity, instead of for purely self-satisfaction.

Ed Bernd Jr, one of Jose Silva’s Friends and Instructors shares this piece with us.

Rather than thinking about what you want and how you will feel when you get something or achieve something, it is far better to think about how the success will correct problems, will relieve suffering, will help someone to achieve their purpose in life and correct more problems and make the world a better place to live.

If you need a new car (not want, but need) then don’t think about how you will feel when you get it, how proud you will be, etc. Instead, think about the problem you will solve by having the new car:

Your family will be safer, you will get places on time, you will be able to help other people, etc.

The more people who will benefit, the easier it will be to achieve your goal.

We were not sent here on a 70 year vacation, Mr. Silva told us. We were sent here with a job to do, and that job is to correct problems and to make the world a better place to live… to finish the creation and convert the world into a paradise.

It is not about us and what we want and how we feel. We can have everything we need to do our job, plus more, provided that we are doing our job - provided that we are doing what higher intelligence sent us here to do, and that is to correct problems, relieve suffering, and make the world a better place to live.

So focus on doing that, not on yourself, and you will get much better results.

He included a line at the very end of the conditioning cycles, (read to students while the were in meditation) the most powerful place in the conditioning cycle, that we should:

Strive to take part in constructive and creative activities to make this world a better place to live, so that when we move on we shall have left behind a better world for those who follow.

When I saw Mr. Silva in the office on Monday, I mentioned it to him. “That’s a statement of unselfishness, isn’t it?” I asked. He didn’t answer directly. His eyes lit up and he looked at me and said, “If it weren’t for that attitude, we wouldn’t have the Silva Method today.”

Not everyone wants to accept these ideas, and they certainly have the right to accept or reject anything they choose. But if you look around you can sure find plenty of evidence to support this.

Look at the man they say is the wealthiest man in the world, Bill Gates. I complain a lot about his heavy handed tactics - I don’t use Internet Explorer and I don’t like the fact that I am still forced to have it on my computer anyway. But I sure can’t argue with what Bill Gates is doing with all that money that he made off of all of us. He is not just handing it out to make himself feel good either, he is working very hard to make sure that the money does as much good for as many people as possible.

And the wealthiest investor in the world, Warren Buffet,  is joining him, giving his money to help people in desperate need rather than giving it to his own children.

I don’t think it is any accident that a couple of people who have that kind of attitude have been so successful in their lives.

Jose Silva wrote:

“The other side will only help me when I am asking for something that is needed to improve conditions on planet earth,” Mr. Silva explained.

“Like we said, they are not going to help me if I want another million dollars when I already have a million dollars, when I want a Rolls Royce when I have a Rolls Royce already. That I want a girlfriend when I already have a wife. Some people ask for something like this.

“They are not going to help you. You are on your own. If you make a mistake, you are going to suffer for it, you are on your own. You don’t get help from the other side.

“You only get help from the other side when your intentions are that whatever you are doing is to help improve conditions on the planet for more than yourself, not just yourself.

“If you only consider Me, me, you have to do it on your own. If it is for Us, then you get help, if whatever you do is going to help more than you.

“The more you are going to help, the more help you get for it.

“We always say, ‘Don’t ever ask for more than what you need, but do ask for no less than what you need.’

“So what your needs will be, depends on how big your plans are. That’s what your needs will be.”

He went on to explain that “how big your plans are” means “how many people will benefit.” The more people who benefit, the better.

My Big Question (from the Editor)

When I first read this, my immediate question was…welll If I’m trying to heal a bad back — can I do that? Surely that’s not benefiting anyone else? But my Silva instructor at the time, answered like this. Of course it is! Remember, with a better back, you could take your kids for walks more often. Spend more time playing sports with your teenage son. Carry stuff for your wife. Of course you can help others more. So when you visualize for a better back - see your wife, teenage kid and son all benefiting too. This accelerates the Law of Attraction!
