A Summary of the Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

The Science of Getting Rich, a book written in 1910 by Wallace D Wattles is going through a big revivial all of a sudden - including being mentioned on Oprah. The reason? Australian film Rhonda Byrnes took the message of the book and used it as inspiration for her hit film, The Secret.

The Science of Getting Rich was a brilliant book during it’s time. But today, it’s old style of writing and message can be a little simplistic for those of us who are used to modern gems like the Conversations with God series by Neale Donald Walsh or The Abraham-Hicks series of books.

Still, Wallace deserves credit for being one of the first to publicly proclaim the idea that we humans, are creative beings who possess the ability to manifest our thoughts through conscious application of the Law of Attraction.

As a public service - here I am summarizing the basic message of Wallace’s book - The Science of Getting Rich. Read it and absorb it. This is a powerful idea that we should all be embracing.

The Science of Getting Rich - a Summary

There is a universal energy from which all things are made. This energy fills the entire univere.

When you form a thought in your head, you tap into this energy, and you actually create that which you are thinking about.

Mankind has the ability to create a thought and cause the subject of the thought to be created within this field of Universal Energy.

To activate this ability, we must learn to harness our creative mind. Typically, we function with our competitive mind. But to create things with thought, we need to activate the creative mind.

We can come into harmony this with Universal energy through the act of expressing gratitude. Gratitude unifies our mind with this all encompassing Universal energy.

To manifest something new, simply hold an image of what you seek in your mind. And express gratitude to the Universe for having granted this to you. To achieve wealth, apply this same principle - hold a clear vision of the wealth you hope to attain. Then express gratitude that this wealth is coming to you. You must have unwavering faith and devout gratitude.

All that you include in your mental image will come to you through the physical realm - through the process of natural ways such as trade and commerce.

To claim this wealth, you must be active. You must do all that you can do each day to make this vision a reality. Especially strive to deliver to others something of value greater than what they paid you for.

Those who practice these instructions will get rich. And the riches they receive will be exact proportion to the definiteness of their vision, the fixitiy of their purpose, the steadiness of their faith, and the depth of their gratitude.

Modern Systems that Build on Wallace’s Work

If you’d like to master the message contained in Wallace’s work, I would recommend the following modern works that do a far better job of conveying the message.

First, to understand the nature and idea behind the Universal Energy Wallace talks about, you might consider the following books.

  • The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe by Lynne McTaggart
  • Conversations with God : An Uncommon Dialogue (Book 1) by Neale Donald Walsch
  • The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot

Next, to understand  the Laws of the Universe - such as the Laws of Attraction or the Science of Deliberate Creation, I would recommend the following books and DVDs.

  • The Secret
  • The Law of Attraction by Abraham Hicks

Finally, to understand the best ways to apply these laws to gain the best results - I recommend the works of Jose Silva. I would also suggest that you watch out for the new seminar being launched by Bob Proctor, of the Secret. The seminar is based on the Science of Getting Rich books. Bob Proctor is the modern-day Wallace D Wattles. Here are the relevant links.

a Speech by Mike Dooley

We human beings are amazing creatures. Born with the ability to stare truth square in it’s face and not see a dang thing.

Our presence has graced the face of the earth for 3.5 million years. Yet just 500 short years ago, we still thought it was flat. And just 100 short years ago, we still didn’t think we could get off the ground and fly.

Which begs the question….

Just what timeless truths are we still missing?

I think know at least one timeless truth. I think you know it too. In fact - we’ve all poked fun of it without realizing the magnitude of this oversight.

Here’s that truth…

Interview with Larry Plato

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Jacob of Mind-Energy.net recently interviewed Larry Plato, a graduate of several Silva seminars and one of the experienced voices on the Silva UltraMind community on Yahoo.com.

Here is the unedited inteview where Larry discusses his experiences with Silva and the events in his life that lead to his interest in spirituality.

1. Can you tell when and how you came to know of the Silva Method and why have you studied it?

I was working as a Locomotive Engineer coming into Port Huron, Michigan. We were staying at the Huron Hotel and there were some classes being held there. I talked with the Instructor during several brakes and found when the next class was being held, and made arrangements to attend.

As to why? All my life I have had strange thing happen and at that time I was looking for answers.

2. What benefits did you experience from the Silva Method in the short term after taking the course?

Better working relationships, My wife had left on 5 April 1974 and taken our 4 children to Houston, Texas. and in the spring of 75 asked for a divorce. I filed and on October 5 of 1975 was granted a divorce and I was given custody of the children. In July I took my eleven year old son to Port Huron and another Silva Class Which was very helpful for me and his mother.

3. How did Silva Method influence your life in the long term?

Being able to pick up thoughts from others. I became certified to teach the Silva relaxation seminars and was verbally authorized by Jose Silva to use the first half of the Basic Lecture series in my relaxation seminars. It made life better by being able to solve problems before they became problems.

How to Stimulate Creativity

Friday, July 14th, 2006

Forty-odd years ago the most respected and certainly one of the most famous authors in America ofered to teach a class in one of the ivy league coleges. The university notified its alumni of the course, which was to be in creative writing. The response was far beyond wildest expectations. So many students wanted the benefit of this great man’s knowledge that the colege auditorium had to be used as a classroom. The semester began and the great day was at hand.

The auditorium was filed to overflowing. Al the students, pencil and notebook in hand, waited in hushed and excited anticipation. The famous man strode out to the lectern, leaned upon it, looked out upon a sea of faces intent on what he was about to say. He took of his eyeglasses, hufed on them gently, wiped them for a bit, seeming to heighten the almost electric energy in the air. He replaced his spectacles carefuly, cleared his throat, and then asked a question: “How many of you truly want to be writers?”

One could have stroled across the auditorium on the tips of the upraised hands. Not a single arm remained upon the owner’s lap. The great man was quiet for a long moment. He walked to the center of the stage, stopped, placed his hands arrogantly upon his hips and commenced to speak: “Then why aren’t you at home writing?”

With that Sinclair Lewis turned, strode of the platform, out of the auditorium, of the campus, and was never to be seen at that university again.

That was the entire creative writing course.

The Role of Remote Viewing and Clairvoyance in your Spiritual Life

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

by Rev. James R. Murray

Rev. James MurrayBefore Jose Silva ever thought of teaching his method to the public, he offered all of his research to the churches. Why did he do this? Because he realized the great value it would have to religious leaders and religions themselves.

"All religions should be teaching this," he explained. "God is not physical, God is spiritual. The mind is not physical. It is said that we were made in the image of the Creator. Image is of the mind, it is not physical, it is spiritual. It does not mean that we all look like God… we all look different. It means that we can do what God did."

"Since God is not physical," Jose Silva told us, "we do not use physical words to communicate with God. We use the mind: visualization and imagination. We use mental pictures to communicate. Everyone can understand a picture, it is the universal language. The more we understand about the mind and the better we are able to use it, the better we can serve God."

The Llewellyn Journal - Erotic Telepathy

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

Telepathic attraction. Who hasn’t felt it at least once? But wait a minute. What is telepathic attraction? A weird sensation that is difficult to put into words, an uncontrollable instinct with no logic. What about erotic telepathy? Maybe somebody is calling you with their mind, but your rational mind is not trained to take in such messages.

So, what is telepathy?
When an unknown situation all of a sudden feels all too familiar, when you believe you know what somebody else is thinking, even if that somebody is unknown to you, when you are turned on by someone you have never seen before…is this telepathy? These experiences might be the result of a pleasant, excellent and affectionate love relationship, or the deepening of mental communication between two people who are in contact. The underlying question is: what is the mind?

Reprogramming Past Negative Beliefs

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

Our Beliefs are Powerful Forces. They shape our world, our self-image, and even our physical bodies. Unfortunately we all carry negative or unwanted beliefs from our past. Yet, did you know that these past beliefs can be over-written? Just like a VCR-recorder, your mind can be very susceptible to programming. Here’s Burt Goldman’s advice on how to re-program unwanted past beliefs.

When, through past programming, the mind associates an event
with some traumatic occurrence, that trauma gestates and produces illness,
disease, and other bodily problems.

A better understanding of mind would be through metaphor. The
brain is like a computer. The mind is like the software. A computer without
software cannot be programmed.  Nor will a spreadsheet program produce
a novel, for that you would need a word processing program.

The mind absorbs all the material input from parents, teachers,
family, friends and media.  When a child is brought up by loving parents
love software is programmed and the child learns love. When a child is
brought up by abusive parents abusive software is programmed and the
child/adult learns all about abusiveness. It is possible for a child of loving
parents to be an abusive adult, but the process would be more difficult
and would have been programmed by someone other than the parent.

Because the mind is so easily programmed, it can be just as easily
reprogrammed. A simple example of programming and the mind could be
that of a cassette tape. A cassette tape has a beginning and an end. A song
near the beginning of the tape could be likened to the programming on
the inner conscious mind.  If you wanted to get rid of the song at the
beginning of the tape you could do in any one of three ways.

  1. You could cut the song out and splice the tape.
  2. You could erase that part of the tape.
  3. You could record over that segment of the tape.

Material in the mind that causes you to be the person you are is
similar in that much of the programming has taken place at an early age.

Various therapeutic methods attempt to locate and correct that
programming.  When you liken the mind to the tape the metaphor clarifies
the problem.

As example: Say that you wish to correct a problem. A person
has been programmed to believe that to be thin is to be ill and that a
husky, overweight body, is a healthy, protective body. Say that program
was installed at the age of eight.

You could get rid of that program in a similar 3 ways.

"Even if you’re not a genius, you can use the same strategies as Aristotle and Einstein to harness the power of your creative mind and better manage your future."

The following eight strategies encourage you to think productively, rather than reproductively, in order to arrive at solutions to problems. "These strategies are common to the thinking styles of creative geniuses in science, art, and industry throughout history."
